That's the way a Feegle clan works. There's one woman who is the leader. Or the Kelda as they call it. She marries the Big Man of the clan. Feegles are very small when they're born so the Kelda has many babies. And they're all male.

Only rarley will a female be born. The females will all grow up and go off to become the Kelda's of a different clan. Marrying their Big Man.

Only briefly. Their Kelda was dying when I was nine and the whole mess with the fairyworld was happening. I agreed to be the Kelda after she died, until we solved the mess. When we did, they went and found Jeanie from another clan and she took over.
