Post Thirty Three: Sorting Things Out

[Tiffany is tired. No, worse. She's not tired, at least not properly tired. Properly tired was spending two days on your feet without sleep. It was helping a new mother give birth to twins. It was when you spent your time on something that made the sheer exhaustion feel like an accomplishment rather then a weakness. No she wasn't tired. Not really.

But she was worried. And she dreams of eyeless things, angry music and gingerbread houses in the woods. And she decides since she's a witch she's going to have to do something about all this. Or a few things.

A. Housemates: Tiffany is sitting on the living room floor while she goes through the small wooden box of her small things from home.

B. Tiffany is walking down the street with a broomstick floating in the air behind her. She's holding onto it by a string as she walks along.

C. Susan, people at Susan's house. There is a witch knocking on the door.

D. There is a girl and a broom on a hill. While that might be a little odd, the strange thing is that she's flying. Rather low to the ground but still flying. It helps her think.

ooc: Tiffany is now able to hear spill words.]

Sophie, I can't find my good ti...

Oh, Tiffany. There you are.

[She glances over, there's a blue and yellow wrapper from an old packet of tobacco in her hands. She's taken it from the small wooden box she keeps in her room. A small stone with a hole in it is next to her leg.]

Hello England.

What's all this?

What are all those? [kneeling beside her]

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
A few keepsakes from home. I used to take them with me when I had to travel away from the chalk when I was younger.

A little.

[She picks up a piece of chalk with a fossil in it.]

...I shouldn't be away from my land for this long.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
To take care of your siblings?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Not just them. To look after all the people of the Chalk. And the land as well.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
... Yeah.

What suddenly brought this on?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I've been talking with a few other ...magic users here.

[Not a witch. They weren't "real" witches. With their "magic wands" and turning people into animals.../her thoughts point out this is just what they were saying about. Be careful. You're on a fine edge.]

And it got me thinking about the witches on the Disc.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ruffling her hair] Yeah? Good or bad thoughts?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
A bit of both.

[There's a bit of a pause as she tries to think of how to explain it.]

...You see. On the Disc....there's a proper "way" to do things. How to be a witch. We learn really early on that all that 'turning people into frogs' and stories about witches and magic are just stories. And that only wizards use showy magic.

Being a witch is hard work, common sense, and solving the problems that no one wants too. All that other stuff is for silly little girls who think if they wave a stick in the air, they can avoid doing their chores or make someone fall in love with them. Or some other stupid thing.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2011-07-25 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
W... well, using magic to make someone fall in love with you isn't really silly, just... impractical. Not that I have any experience with that.

But you sound like a very sensible witch. Frustrated with all the other magic-users hanging around?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2011-07-26 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
....England.

Yes. Somewhat. I'm trying not to be. I just think they're making all witches look bad by running around waving wands in the air.

Which isn't really true because they're not witches from the Discworld so that shouldn't affect me.
