Post Fifteen: Fathers Day

Has anyone noticed if fathers day is going the same way as mothers day?

[Action for England also has a gift for him]

Happy Fathers Day

Do you know why we have negatize numbers? It seems like a waste of time to me.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are important in the higher maths. It's just good to grasp the concept and recognize it.

And there's nothing wrong with a little negativity.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
But they don't exist. How can you have a negative amount of something?

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you're quite looking at this the wrong way.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
How should I look at it then?

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not why should we have negative numbers.

It's more like why not?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
....I suppose.

Do they have a use?

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course they do.

Just wait a few years and you'll be quite thankful for them.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
....I suppose.

Unless you don't use them outside of school. Because I don't go to school at home so I suppose I'll need them.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, math is quite useful to learn all around. If America kept up his studies, I'm sure he would have been slightly more intelligent than a sponge by now.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's good then.

We don't have science there though.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Then what do you learn?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been learning about herbs, medicine, magic...witchcraft things.

And most people learn a trade or stick to farming. Most women get married and become mothers.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly sounds like my medieval times. Sometimes I still get a little agricultural revolution in my eyes, but not too often nowadays...

You're training to be a witch, then?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Agricultural revolution?

Yes, I've been apprenticed to two different witches so far. Three if you count Nanny Ogg.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that was a very long time ago.

Magic is quite a good thing to learn. You're still keeping up your practise, aren't you?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...right.

Yes, as much as I can.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But nothing too dangerous?

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as I can tell, no.

I'm thinking about going to ask Nanny if she can teach me more here.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as you keep up both your studies.

And still be back home before six.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. I think we get a break from school soon anyway.

[identity profile] the-wee-big-hag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Nanny says she thinks it was probably for helping with the crops at first and then they just forgot the reason as people went away from the farms.

[identity profile] is-an-island.livejournal.com 2010-06-21 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
... That sounds alarmingly informed. What's the break called, then?
